We at Lamar recognize the value of introducing young children to a loving, respectful, stimulating, hands-on learning environment. Our goal is to encourage our students to develop self-reliance and an appreciation for the gifts, talents, and positive potential of diversity in others they meet during the educational process. It is our hope that the pre-kindergarten experience will be a meaningful early step toward the establishment of successful relationships and personal responsibility.
  Identifying each child’s unique needs and capabilities is key to the personalized instruction we wish to offer. We feel that all of our students can and will be productive when caring, qualified teachers and staff expose them to the appropriate balance of structured lessons and self-discovery.  

The classroom and curriculum are designed to encourage play, exploration, problem solving, and creative expression. Learning centers provide challenging multi-sensory activities and materials from which, during the experience, children are able to apply prior knowledge, form new thoughts, respond, and grow.

  
Our Pre-Kindergarten is offered as a full-day program, meeting regular school hours (8:00 – 2:45, Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 – 2:15 on Mondays). Our spacious classrooms with self-contained restrooms are designed to accommodate young children and to facilitate a wide variety of learning activities. Currently, each class has a certified teacher and a full-time assistant.
