In a continuing effort to provide our students with the best of fine arts opportunities, we are pleased to announce that, in conjunction with Meridian Symphony Association, Inc., Lamar School is offering violin instruction. The fall term will include lessons twice a week through December. Plans are also underway for a performance by our students in early December. We are very fortunate to have Stephen Gwozdz, resident strings instructor for the Meridian Symphony Association, providing the lessons. In addition, Mr. Gwozdz has taught elementary school music/strings in both Meridian and Columbus.
Classes will be on Mondays and Wednesdays of each week and will be forty-five minutes in length. Two classes are offered , one Pre-K through second grade, and one for third through sixth grades. Pre-K through second grade will meet from 3:00 – 3:45 p.m., followed by third through sixth grades from 4:00 – 4:45 p.m. Instruments are available for rental through a contractual agreement with each parent. Parents are responsible for the expense of replacement of strings.
Cost for the fall term is $260.00, which includes the $60.00 instrument rental and $200.00 for eighteen lessons. The full non-refundable fee is due by the first class date, September 30th. Minimum class size will be five students, not to exceed twelve, and participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
We are truly excited about providing this service to our students and hope to continue to expand our music and other fine arts offerings. Your support will go a long way to promote further development in this area, so please consider having your child participate.
