Mission Statement
Lamar School’s mission is to educate each
individual by providing a challenging and purposeful college preparatory
curriculum in a safe, respectful, Christian environment.
Beliefs. Developed through a
collaborative effort among administrators, teachers, and parents,
the following eight statements express Lamar School's vision:
● A safe, supportive Christian learning
environment promotes student achievement.
● Education is the key to all opportunities.
● An educational program's goal is to prepare
students to become confident, self-directed lifelong learners, and
to realize their potential in society.
● A school’s success depends on the
commitment of all staff members to high quality standards, expectations,
and performances.
● All students can learn, but each student
has unique needs and skills.
● Students should develop an understanding
of essential knowledge and skills and use this knowledge for reasoning,
solving problems, and producing quality work.
● Mutual communication between school and
families is essential to student's education and to the school's
success.
● Teachers, administrators, parents, and
the community share responsibility for advancing a school's mission
and goals.
Formula for Success. A challenging
curriculum taught by qualified faculty within a strong moral environment
is the cornerstone of the Lamar School program. Add a group of dedicated
students and supportive parents, and it's easy to see why the students
are so successful. At Lamar, our focus is on the future . . . specifically
in making sure a child reaches his/her goals.
Lamar School receives money from three sources:
tuition, annual fund, and endowment income. Tuition alone cannot
subsidize all the financial requirements necessary in upholding
high standards in faculty, facilities, technological advances, and
curricular programs. Lamar School depends on its annual fund, a
tax-deductible means by which patrons can support the mission of
the school. The annual fund is essential to our continued success.
Endowments enable Lamar School to continue to
deliver the highest possible quality of educational experience for
its students by enhancing the teachers’ compensation and/or
benefits, providing funding for capital improvements to the school,
and promoting affordability of tuition for all Lamar School students.
The larger the endowment, the more income we receive in the form
of interest from the endowment. Therefore, endowments enable us
to keep tuition costs down and not rely so heavily on “fundraising”
to supplement the operating budget. Named endowments are also available.
Lamar School offers a financial aid program. For

Notice of Non-Discrimination
Lamar School admits students of any race, color,
nationality, or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs,
and activities generally accorded or made available to students at
the school. Lamar does not discriminate in administration of its educational
policies, admissions policies, athletic or other school-administered
programs based on race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin.
Qualified and Dedicated
Family
Sixty-nine
experienced individuals and two counselors spend countless hours
in and out of the classroom to assure that Lamar students receive
a state-of-the-art education. All of our instructors are fully certified
and most possess advanced academic degrees. All faculty and administrators
undergo continual professional development. Lamar patrons support
the faculty by securing funds for career development and educational
seminars. A portion of the school’s Annual Fund is set aside
for teacher enrichment.
The Lamar Family
One of the most significant contributions
to the success of Lamar School is family involvement. Parents and
grandparents give generously of their time and energy. They participate
in the Parents Association of Lamar School (PALS), the Lamar Booster
Club, hospitality functions, beautification projects, and on the
Prime Meridian Cookbook staff. They also serve as homeroom representatives
and substitute teachers.
