A Tradition of Excellence

Academic Clubs and Honor Societies

As a college preparatory school,  Lamar places great emphasis on academics in the classroom and beyond.  Students at all levels have the opportunity to participate in many clubs, tournaments, and competitions throughout the year.  These provide needed opportunities for students to show leadership, responsibility and initiative in a setting designed to encourage independence and mature judgment. Each organization or event has a faculty sponsor who is responsible for working with the students to facilitate growth in these important areas of development.

While opportunities vary from year to year, a partial list includes:
Spelling Bees
STEM Challenges
Robotics Clubs
Chess Club
Mock Trial Team
Student Council
30 Plus Club
Quiz Bowl Teams
Literary Publications
MS Math Counts
MS & HS Book Clubs

In addition, students who have achieved academic success in the classroom are eligible to join various honor societies on campus, including:

Beta Club (at elementary, middle and high school levels)
Mu Alpha Theta
National Art Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society
National Honor Society
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica
