Faculty Spotlight: Christy Wall

If you've walked through the front doors of Lamar Elementary lately, you may have noticed a new friendly face—meet Mrs. Christy Wall, our new administrative assistant in the front office.

A pediatric nurse by training and a natural encourager by heart, Christy brings compassion, attention to detail, and a deep love for people to her new role at Lamar. She and her family moved to Meridian from Hattiesburg when her husband, Will, became the head pastor at First Baptist Church. Their son, Carter, is now a thriving junior at Lamar, and their oldest son, Jackson, is a junior at William Carey University.

“Lamar has been everything we hoped for and more,” Christy says. “Coming from a large public school, we were a little nervous about the transition, but Lamar was exactly what Carter needed—academically, socially, athletically. He didn’t get lost here. He was seen.”

Before joining the Lamar staff, Christy spent years working in pediatric oncology at Blair E. Batson. “I’ve always been very relational. I love to meet people in their moment of need and help however I can,” she shared. “That experience shaped how I see every interaction—one child, one family at a time.”

Though the summer has meant quieter hallways, Christy has already felt right at home in her first few weeks. “I loved having the summer camps here—I got to meet the kids, hear about what they were doing, and feel the energy again. It made me so excited for the school year and to have all the students back in the building.”

As the new school year begins, Christy is most excited about learning names and building connections with students and families. “I want kids to know me as Mrs. Christy. I want to be a familiar, friendly face they can count on.”

Her philosophy is simple but impactful: see the need, meet the need. “I’m observant. I prioritize well, and if I notice something that needs to be taken care of, I’ll handle it. I think sometimes just meeting a need—however small—can shift the course of a day for a child or a parent.”

Her faith is also at the center of all she does. “I’ve learned to love people where they are, not where I want them to be,” Christy says. Whether welcoming guests at church or at school, her heart for service shines through. “This is one big family—one kid, one parent at a time.”

When she’s not at Lamar or First Baptist, you’ll likely find Christy with her family. They love to travel, hike, float rivers, and attend MLB games—often turning summer vacations into mini baseball adventures. “We’re a big baseball family,” she laughs. “And yes, I can keep a scorebook!”

Just don’t be surprised if you catch her sneaking a snack during a busy day—peach gummies, sour watermelon, peanut butter M&Ms, and lemon water are her go-to pick-me-ups.

Please join us in giving a warm Raider welcome to Mrs. Christy Wall—we’re so glad she’s joined our Lamar family!
