Lamar School Announces New Upper School Principal

Lamar School is proud to announce that Mrs. Gena Dye has been named the new Upper School Principal. A devoted member of the Lamar community, Mrs. Dye has served in many roles over the years—including librarian, senior English teacher, and most recently, Dean of Faculty. Her leadership has played a vital role in faculty development and the continued growth of our academic programs.

Mrs. Dye holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master’s in English from Mississippi State University. In 2014, she completed the MAIS Leadership Institute. Throughout her time at Lamar, she has worked closely with faculty and curriculum planning and was instrumental in leading our successful 2020 SAIS accreditation visit.

Known for her deep commitment to excellence in education, Mrs. Dye is passionate about supporting both students and teachers and continues to uphold the values of our safe, respectful, Christian environment.

Mrs. Dye and her husband, Brad, are proud parents of two Lamar alumni. Their daughter Tate (Class of ’15) is an account director with Thinkwell Creative and currently lives in Japan with her husband Jake, a U.S. Navy fighter pilot. Their son Dan (Class of ’18) is pursuing a graduate degree in Biology while teaching at the University of Mississippi.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Dye on her new role. We are excited for the future of our Upper School under her continued leadership.
