Robotic Raiders Earn Prestigious Sustain Award at FIRST Qualifier in Tupelo

The Robotic Raiders earned a significant honor at the first FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier of the season in Tupelo on November 15, bringing home the Sustain Award—a recognition that celebrates long-term vision, leadership, and program growth.

The Sustain Award is presented to the team that demonstrates a clear and strategic plan to ensure the future of their robotics program. Judges look for teams that manage their finances responsibly, set long-range goals, track their progress, and show a strong commitment to leadership and sustainability. This year, the Robotic Raiders stood out for their exceptional dedication to building a program that will thrive for years to come.

Judges praised the team’s forward-thinking approach, noting:
“This team didn't just compete this season; they've invested in the future of FIRST itself! They've charted new territory mentoring rookies, growing programs, and uncovering future talent like seasoned adventurers. And with their trademark energy, and those bright red shirts that make them impossible to miss, they've truly lived up to their name by raiding every opportunity to uplift the next generation.”

The Robotic Raiders were recognized for their efforts to mentor rookie teams, expand STEM opportunities, and inspire young students to explore robotics. Their commitment to outreach and education has strengthened robotics programs not only at Lamar School, but throughout the region.

As the season continues, the Robotic Raiders will build on this momentum, demonstrating both competitive excellence and a steadfast commitment to shaping the future of robotics in Mississippi.

Congratulations to the Robotic Raiders on this outstanding achievement!
